If you are a councillor or mayor in England, you may now be able to join the LGPS. We have created a new Councillors and Mayors in England page which explains how the Scheme works for elected members.

- the key differences between LGPS membership for elected members and employees.
Eligible councillors and mayors are not automatically enrolled into the LGPS and must opt in if they wish to build up pension benefits.
